National Science Drama Festival

National Council of Science Museums conducts variety of educational programmes for popularization of Science among masses in general and students in particular.  Some of these activities are conducted nationwide in collaboration with the State education authorities/ Science & Technology Department of the respective States/UTs. One such programme is National Science Drama Festival for school students wherein theatre is used as a medium for spreading scientific messages. This year National Science Drama Festival will be organized at National Science Centre, New Delhi in January 2015. The participation is open to the school students from 6th to 10th Standard. It will be held at the Taluka (town) level, District level, State level, Zonal level & National level.

National Science Drama Festival 2013-14, an annual nationwide science drama competition, organised by the National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was inaugurated by Mrs. Pheroza Godrej, Art Historian, Environmentalist and Chairperson NGMA Mumbai, at the Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai on 10th January 2014. Ten teams, 2 respective winner teams, from five zones of the country, North, South, East, West and North East, staged science dramas highlighting various scientific issues like need for water cooperation, conservation of electricity, non conventional energy, need for plantation of trees, environment, health and hygiene, Mental retardation and its awareness etc. on the broad general theme of Science & Society.
Prof Kamalakar Sontakke, Eminent Art and Theatre Director gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners and participants during the valedictory ceremony.
